We just cannot believe that Lola is 5! For the past few days I've been looking through our photos and videos of the kids and Lola is such a big girl now. We had such a fun birthday weekend. She had a friend party on Saturday that was a "cooking" birthday party, so I made each girl simple aprons and they made mini-pizzas, using thawed Rhodes dinner roll dough (who knew?!) fruit kabobs, and pink lemonade for lunch. Then I made large cupcakes beforehand and had frosting, sprinkles, marshmellows and chocolate chips on a plate for each girl and let them decorate them. When they were done I had small white "cake" boxes with a label on them to put their cupcakes in. They all had so much fun. After presents they all came back to the kitchen for cake and ice cream.
The girls were so cute when Lola was opening her presents. They all huddled in around her in the corner of the living room.
Lola's birthday morning. She opened up her cards from Grandma and Grandpa Chamberlain and Grandma and Grandpa Johns and Micah. Dylan helped her read them-so helpful.
On the night of her actual birthday we had a family birthday party for Lola. We have a birthday tradition of whoever's birthday it is gets to pick every meal. For breakfast Lola chose to have cinnamon rolls bisquits, orange juice and bananas. For dinner she wanted "spagetti with white sauce", or fettucinni alfredo with broccoli and grilled chicken, homemade applesauce, and carrots. After dinner she opened her presents from us and the kids. I love watching her open presents because she lines them up on the floor in front of her after she opens each present. She did it last year too!
When she was opening her last present which was a Picklicious doll she was looking at the back of the box and when she turned it around and saw what it was she screamed! It was so cute. She had the biggest smile on her face. Dylan got her a light saber, to fight him now no doubt, and Meghan got her pink dress up shoes, which you can't see in this picture, but she was clinking around in them for the rest of the night.
We hope you had a wonderful birthday Lola! We love you so much! This is one of my favorite pictures of her from when she was about 18-19 months. A few months before Meghan was born. Picking apples and carrying her bucket. Love it.
