Summer has been great so far for our little family. Last month we worked on the summer reading program at the library. That really helped kick start our weekly visits to the library for story time and picking out books to bring home. I love that the kids look forward to it every week. We also went to my parents for the 4th of July and stayed for a week. It was great. Summer at it's best. Family, friends, swimming at the lake, 4-wheelers, trampolines, horses, yummy BBQ, and a night sky of fireworks. I think we even had a bit of jet lag from that trip!
Here are a few things that's happening for us right now.
Right now we are enjoying a few cooler days of rain and breeze. Kind of nice to have a chance to open up the windows and doors and let the cool breeze through the house.
Right now the kids are in swim lessons. We just finished our first week. Dylan and Lola were a bit hesitant at first because they are no longer over in the smaller, warmer pool. Their lessons are on the big pool. That first day was a tough one, but they have gotten through it and they are little turtles and frogs now in the water. Meghan is a little water bug too. She loves the water! They're all in different classes but they overlap by about 10 minutes so It's fun to sit with Isaac and watch them. Little kids with swim goggles on has got to be the cutest thing ever.
Right now Lola is making the step to riding a two wheel bike without her training wheels. We went for a bike ride last night as a family and along the way one of the T.W. kept coming loose, so Allen told her he needed to take it off. She was fine with that and Allen rode alongside her coaching her. I wish I had the camera for that because it was a really neat shot watching them ride side by side. Now she wants to take the other one off when Daddy gets home. She has been riding laps out in the driveway for the past hour.
Right now Isaac is my little happy man. He is sitting up and jabbering. He'll be 8 months in a few days and I just cannot believe that. He's such a happy little guy and so easy going. He lights up when he sees the kids and loves watching them play. I am so grateful for him!
Right now there are lots of opportunities for teaching the kids how to work. We're trying to encourage, teach and guide with this. Not always happy faces, but with consistency and patience it's coming along. They have their little job sticker charts and games that we play to make it more fun. :)
Right now we are trying to enjoy our summer together as much as we can before school starts. Taking the time to play. Just play. As each day passes the kids are getting older. More grown up and I love watching them create, pretend, and imagine.
