a weekend of halloween.

Our Halloween this year started on Thursday with our annual "Pizza and Pumpkins" night. Each year we invite some friends over for a dinner of pizza, etc. and then we carve pumpkins! It was a lot of fun and the kids actually got there hands dirty in the pumpkin guts. They loved drawing the faces on the pumpkins first, but then we had to interpret what exactly they wanted! :) Friday the kids had their Halloween parties at their schools, so we got them all dressed up that morning. I had signed up to help at Dylan's party, but I ended up being the party coordinator, so that was a lot of fun to help put together. Saturday night was the big fall social/chili cook off/trunk or treat up at the church and it great! We got the kids dressed up again and there were so many people there! We did it with the other ward and the kids had so much fun. There were so many great costumes! It was raining a little during the trunk or treat, but the kids didn't seem to mind! It was fun hearing Meghan say "trick or treat!" and "thank you!" at each "trunk". And then to end our Halloween weekend I saved the decorating of our traditional pumpkins cookies for Sunday afternoon. It was fun and good and messy. The kids loved being able to decorate them however they wanted! Since Halloween fell on a Sunday this year, we didn't take the kids out trick or treating, but that was fine with us! I really don't think the kids minded because they got to answer the door when the trick or treaters came to our house! It was a great Halloween for our family and Dylan thought being Batman was awesome and the girls loved being butterflies!
