Halloween!

Halloween this year seemed to last forever, but in a good way. We had our Ward harvest/carnival at our church the Saturday before Halloween. The kids had a lot of fun going to all the different booths. Dylan loved the basketball one and Lola couldn't seem to get away from the cupcake walk. She was very determined to win! Allen was there with her for awhile, but came over to me at the booth I was working to trade places. Her number did get called and she was very happy. It was a very interesting thing to learn about Lola that night. She just needs to things to be completed and they have to be done right. She later went to the booth to paint a small pumpkin and she couldn't leave until it was she had finished. She started getting upset when they started cleaning things up and she wasn't done yet! I love watching her paint though, she is really good and she loves doing it. Meghan enjoyed the excitement and had probably 4 or 5 suckers. She's a sneaky little thing.

This week we also raked up all the leaves in our yard, but not before the kids had their fill up jumping and playing in them! We pushed them all over the wall and went to town. This year was weird because the leaves didn't turn the bright orange they usually do, but oh well, we'll take it. The weather that day was a little funny-it was partly cloudy, and it would hail, and then the sun would come out and then it snowed little light wispy flakes which the kids enjoyed catching on their tongues.

Lola's Joy School Halloween party was on Friday and Dylan's school Halloween party was also that day. They were very excited to wear their costumes again! Dylan was little concerned if he was allowed to wear his costume on the bus and I assured him that is was OK. He was also a little sad that he couldn't take his light saber to school, being Luke Skywalker it's kind of an important prop! But I just suggested that if anybody asked him where it was to just say, "Ben Ka-nobi hasn't given me one yet." He was excited to play the part! He came home with all sorts of fun things and told me all about the concert the school had and sang the song that all the kindegardners sang together. He had such a big smile on his face and couldn't stop laughing. He really loves school! Lola was Repunzal this year and she loved dressing up like a princess, who wouldn't really? At Joy School they played, colored, decorated pumpkin cookies, had storytime, had yummy apple cider, and played some more. Meghan was Sleeping Beauty this year and is enjoying the whole "dress-up" concept! She's not officially in Joy School , but she likes to join us for the fun parties and field trips.

OK so now we are to the actual day of Halloween and I'm thinking, really we have to do this again! But we did and it was FUN! Lola had her last day of gymnastics in the morning and she just loves it. I'm hoping we can start her in a regular class after the holidays. We also went over to the new house and raked all the leaves and did a few fix-it projects. The kids loved playing in the backyard and it was just great being there! We are going to get a lot done this week, painting, tile, other various things that need to be done. And I need to keep packing up this house too! We close on the 18th of this month! It really is November.

And finally we have the last dress-up in Halloween costume photos. I really wanted them to be outside for these pictures, but it was dark already, so we settled for the kitchen. Aren't they cute! Dylan the part of a Jedi, Lola looking lovely as Repunzal and miss Meghan just happy and excited to be doing something fun as usual! We hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween! Next on the calendar is Thanksgiving. We talked to the kids about Thanksgiving yesterday and they were all too excited to start decorating. We were like, whoa! Slow down. It's a month away and can't we recover a little from the holiday that we just had yesterday?? I mean seriously we have all this candy to get through or do something with! They were really funny yesterday morning...I told them they couldn't eat any before breakfast, but they were just content with dumping it all out on the kitchen table to sort it and make some trades! I guess it is that time of year to say, "Happy Holidays!"
